VERBUND – Austria’s largest electricity supply company

VERBUND is Austria’s leading power company and one of the largest producers of hydroelectric power within Europe. In the more than 50 power plants, almost all electricity is generated from climate-friendly, renewable hydropower, supplemented by wind and heat power.

THE VERBUND currently employs about 3,000 people. The Group subsidiary VERBUND Services is the joint service organization of all VERBUND subsidiaries and provides central services such as IT services or accounting, as well as centralized, group-wide purchasing.

Introduction of a web-based eProcurement platform with interface to SAP

The project goal: An eProcurement platform for all employees

The aim of the project “eProcurement” is the introduction of a web-based, company-wide eProcurement platform with strong connection to SAP. The aim of this platform is to turn VERBUND employees into procurement experts. Without having to switch on central purchasing, employees can use it online to easily and quickly process their needs – from felt-tip pen to consulting services. Only a few months are planned for the introduction and switch-over from the old to the new system. The system is expected to be rolled out by the beginning of 2020 for all plant and department employees in Austria and Germany. After selecting the desired system – a SaaS solution, it is therefore important to enable the most standardized solution without conversions together with the converter.

The procedure

After the procurement and selection, all tender documents were analysed again. This was the setup of a traceable request catalog. Subsequently, an analysis of the requirements with the client and the implementer took place. The requirements for feasibility and criticality were prioritized. Necessary change requests were identified and evaluated with the corresponding implementation costs. Subsequently, a seamless transfer of requirements to a test specification as the basis for test management and system acceptance took place.

The result

The replacement of the old system with a modern SaaS solution was completed within a few months. After a successful start-up, ReqPOOL provided ongoing support to secure professional project management. Ongoing requirements management was also ensured by ReqPOOL in order to understand changes and costs. Together, features were prioritized and cost increases monitored. Subsequently, the key users were prepared for the testing and the smooth commissioning of the new system.

View

In the next few months, the final refinement of the project will take place, so that the final rollout can take place in 2020. The prerequisite is a successful acceptance with the prepared test cases of ReqPOOL. These are based on the original tenders and ensure a common thread in the project.
